Hamilton - Gardener’s Cottage

A complete renovation and extension of an existing bungalow located on the boundary of the historic Chatelherault Hunting Lodge in Hamilton. The project transforms the existing property into a contemporary family home, improving its relationship with the surrounding landscape, historic setting and south-facing garden.

The owners’ passion for gardening was central to the design approach, with the proposals carefully arranged to create a stronger connection between the house and garden. Internal alterations and a considered extension provide a variety of living spaces, allowing the home to adapt to everyday family life while creating welcoming spaces for entertaining and gathering.

Through carefully framed views, improved natural light and a closer relationship with the garden, the project celebrates the character of the existing site while creating a thoughtful and enduring home connected to its historic setting.
